"Corduroy Jim's new record "Cinco" is reminiscent of early '90s jam-band with influences ranging from Strangefolk, Ekoostic Hookah and Pearl Jam to Phish and God Street Wine." -Jam Band Friendly Magazine
April, 2014 news...
April is a busy month for the Jim as we make a return to the always sexy Sports Page in Mountain View followed by a few new venues out of the area. We are excited to be venturing northeast for shows in Nevada City and Chico as well as playing in Ukiah and Pacifica. Spreading the love... For more info on these shows, scroll down to "upcoming shows".
In other news, Steve recently returned from his pilgrimage to the four Peethas of Puri, Rameswaram, Dwarka, and Badrinath. Save for a minor bout of dysentery, he called the trip "successful" and feels that he truly got in touch with a side of himself hitherto unknown. The only minor problem for the rest of us is that he refuses to shed the man sari he picked up while in India (see picture below). While he seems to feel comfortable in his new garb, he is obviously slightly self-conscious as he has asked each of us at one time or another "does this make my butt look big?" Do us a favor when you see him at the next show and tell him "...it looks like you've lost weight" and, for God's sake, please don't stare at his butt. Thanks in advance....
Who is Corduroy Jim...?
Born of the musical evolution of numerous collaborations and an insatiable thirst for power, Corduroy Jim burst into being during the renowned Original Music Renaissance of fin de siècle San Jose. Marked by some provincial success with the release of their album 'Hangar' they are systematically parlaying that into a wider provincial success with their current sophomore effort 'Cinco'.
Corduroy Jim is a six piece unit featuring Martin Rodriquez and Richard Thomas on guitars, Nick Chargin on keyboards, Michael Palladino on drums, Jon "John" Hassan on saxophone, and Steve Strom on bass. Individually, members of the band have been involved in a myriad of musical conglomerations over the years – sharing the stage with such diverse artists as String Cheese Incident and Leftover Salmon to Greenday and Train to Johnny Guitar Watson and the Temptations. Together they combine the fluid excitement of live improvisation with the intricacy of innovatively structured originals and the economic shrewdness of atypically low cover charges. If you were to steal the band iPod you would find interests as diverse as Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, P-Funk, Genesis, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Phish, and could probably get yourself $40 on Craigslist to boot.
Forever staying true to their founding principles, based upon a sacred peyote fueled apprehension of the modern musical kibbutz and the overarching desire to reach into the souls of as many listeners as humanly possible, Corduroy Jim are fan favorites from Bridgeville to Barstow and beyond. Providing an eclectic mix of rock, soul, funk, and Americana, Corduroy Jim takes you on a musical safari with every performance - incorporating soaring three and four part harmonies, improvisational acrobatics and driving rhythms. Buckle up, put on your goggles and drink the kool-aid...this ain't your mama's jam band.
Corduroy Jim was recently ranked #7 Singer-Songwriter in San Jose on Reverb Nation and their most recent record, "Cinco", has received terrific response from their fans, and a glowing review from Jam Band Friendly Magazine:
Gaining buzz and new fans every day as they have begun branching out with regional tours, Corduroy Jim is proud to call San Jose, California home. Thanks for stopping by and we hope to see you very soon at one of our shows or just loitering in the park..... -CJ
"The group combines all the best elements of contemporary pop-rock, from Neil Young folk harmonies to the soaring arena rock of U2" -Garrett Wheeler SJ Metro

Kicking off our way through the central coast at the very cool and fun at The Frog & Peach Pub. Great atmosphere and lots of fun in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo. The Farmers Market happens most of the day before hand as well. Good stuff!
We have been wanting to play here for quite awhile now and low and behold! We wrap up our gallop along the central coast by coming home to the Santa Cruz mountains. Our friends Tether Horse join us for a rocking night of the best Cali roots music around!
