"Perfect texturing, brilliant solos, and robust musicality sets Corduroy Jim apart from your typical jam band. And while they're proficient in the ways of the traditional jam band, their talents lie beyond the apparent "groove". "Cinco" is a thoughtful, poetic take on the more soulful aspects of psychedelic, country, Americana, and funk." -Christopher Millard@San Francisco Examiner

Corduroy Jim
"The Poor Man's Velvet"

Who is Corduroy Jim...?

Born of the musical evolution of numerous collaborations and an insatiable thirst for power, Corduroy Jim burst into being during the renowned Original Music Renaissance of fin de siècle San Jose. Marked by some provincial success with the release of their album 'Hanger' they are systematically parlaying that into a wider provincial success with their current sophomore effort 'Cinco'.

Corduroy Jim is a six piece unit featuring Martin Rodriquez and Rich Thomas on guitars, Nick Chargin on keyboards, Michael Palladino on drums, Jon "John" Hassan on saxophone, and Steve "Bear" Strom spanking the bass plank. Individually, members of the band have been involved in a myriad of musical conglomerations over the years – sharing the stage with such diverse artists as String Cheese Incident and Leftover Salmon to Greenday and Train to Johnny Guitar Watson and the Temptations. Together they combine the fluid excitement of live improvisation with the intricacy of innovatively structured originals and the economic shrewdness of atypically low cover charges. If you were to steal the band iPod you would find interests as diverse as Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, P-Funk, Genesis, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Phish, and could probably get yourself $40 on Craigslist to boot.

Forever staying true to their founding principles, based upon a sacred peyote fueled apprehension of the modern musical kibbutz and the overarching desire to reach into the souls of as many listeners as humanly possible, Corduroy Jim are fan favorites from Bridgeville to Barstow and beyond. Providing an eclectic mix of rock, soul, funk, and Americana, Corduroy Jim takes you on a musical safari with every performance - incorporating soaring three and four part harmonies, improvisational acrobatics and driving rhythms. Buckle up, put on your goggles and drink the kool-aid...this ain't your mama's jam band.

Corduroy Jim was recently ranked #7 Singer-Songwriter in San Jose on Reverb Nation and their most recent record, "Cinco", has received terrific response from their fans, and a glowing review from
Jam Band Friendly Magazine.

Gaining buzz and new fans every day as they have begun branching out with regional tours, Corduroy Jim is proud to call San Jose, California home. Thanks for stopping by and we hope to see you very soon at one of our shows or just loitering in the park... -CJ

"The group combines all the best elements of contemporary pop-rock, from Neil Young folk harmonies to the soaring arena rock of U2"
